Board of Trustees

The Independent School is governed by a Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees does not intervene in the daily affairs of the school, but focuses on three areas critical to the success of an independent school; it selects, evaluates, and supports the Head of School, to whom it delegates authority to manage the school; it develops broad institutional policies that guide the Head in running the school; and it is accountable for the financial well-being of the school. The Board of Trustees is not responsible for the administration of the school, including hiring and supervision of teachers, admission of students, or setting curriculum, which is the responsibility of the Head of School.

The Board is comprised of no more than twenty members who may be parents, alumni, or citizens of the community. Members are elected by the current Board for three year terms, and may serve two consecutive terms.
