Welcome to The Independent School website. It is our pleasure to share our extraordinary school with you and your family.
TIS is a vibrant teaching and learning environment with a daily mission to provide a superior education conducive to the intellectual, emotional, and physical growth of each individual student. To put this simply, we are striving for excellence from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12. TIS graduates are offered admission to some of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the nation.
As you visit our website, you will quickly notice a comprehensive curriculum in each division led by a talented, dedicated faculty and staff. The fine arts, sports, and athletic competitions have been recognized over the years through multiple state championships. Our community service projects have been recognized locally, regionally, and nationally. A comprehensive extracurricular program encourages students to expand their interests and talents on the field, on the stage, behind a canvas, or through their pen and voice.
The Independent School continues to build on the foundation originally guided by our founder, Mrs. Jean Garvey, thirty years ago: to provide a cost-effective, college preparatory education for a lifetime of learning. We strive to be a community of learners.

TIS has a sense of community for students, parents, faculty, staff and administrators. Once a member of the TIS community, most students grow and learn together through graduation. Families know each other and support each other. Faculty members take interest in students beyond their classroom attending school and other student events. TIS strives to be a place where people are known.
