¡Bienvenidos a español!

  We are so lucky to have Spanish at the Independent School. At TIS, students are exposed to Spanish at an early age through TPR (Total Physical Response), songs, culture, games and storytelling. Reading and writing is introduced in the 1st grade and progresses throughout 5th grade. When students leave the lower school they have been exposed to basic vocabulary including but not limited to; greetings, date, weather, colors, family, food, prepositions, interrogatives, commands, time, likes/dislikes and conversation through storytelling. Encourage your students to share their Spanish with you at home, because just like a sport, language gets better with practice. Thank you for sharing your students with me!
