Admission Procedures

Thank you for your interest in The Independent School.

Our Admission process is as follows:

  1. Families are encouraged to tour our facility. This can be scheduled through our Admission Office or by attending an open house program.

  2. Submit completed application form and a $40 non-refundable testing fee. The application can be downloaded here: Application Form

  3. Danielle Dankey, our Director of Admission will contact you to set up a testing date and time. Testing may take between 45 minutes and 2 hours, depending upon the age and grade of the student.  (See our Visit/Open House page for pre-scheduled testing dates.)

  4. All applicants must submit their previous school records. One confidential letter of recommendation is required for Lower School applicants and Middle or Upper School applicants must provide a recommendation letter from one math teacher and one English teacher.  (See below for downloadable forms.)

  5. There is a required Parent Statement that parents of all applicants need to submit, as well as a required Student Questionnaire for students applying to grades 4-12. (See below for downloadable forms.) 

  6. Prospective students will be invited for a Shadow Day if the information, thus far, is favorable and if school is in session.  (See our Visit/Open House page for pre-scheduled shadow dates.) 

  7. Following the assigned Shadow Day, the student's information will be reviewed and the family will be contacted with a final decision.

  8. Once re-enrollment is completed (typically in January), remaining positions will be filled. A signed contract and a non-refundable deposit are required within a specified time frame after you have been notified of the student’s acceptance into The Independent School.
