Financial Assistance

In light of current economic circumstances, there is an increased interest in financial aid opportunities at The Independent School. Our school is aware of the financial sacrifices many of our families make to afford tuition and other related fees and we welcome the opportunity to work with you to address your affordability concerns.

FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment conducts the financial need analysis for The Independent School. Each year, FACTS, part of Nelnet Business Solutions, helps approximately 5,000 private K-12 institutions and more than one million families achieve their education goals.

Families applying for financial aid will need to complete an application and submit the necessary supporting documentation to FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment for priority consideration by April 1, 2012.  Applications received after the priority deadline will be reviewed as long as funds remain available.  Applicants can apply online only.  Please use this link.  (NOTE:  If you are a new family considering Independent, you need to file both a TIS Admissions Application and the FACTS financial aid application, before you will be evaluated for financial assistance.)

The following information is required in order for FACTS to process your application:

  1. Completed online application.

  2. Payment of the $25 application fee to FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment.

  3. Copies of your 2011 tax forms including all supporting tax schedules.*

  4. Copies of your 2011 W-2 form for both you and your spouse.

  5. Copies of supporting documentation for Social Security Income, Welfare, Child Support, Food Stamps, Workers’ Compensation, and TANF.
*If you plan to file your taxes after the TIS priority deadline of April 1, please contact the admissions office to request accommodations.  Your file will not be reviewed without supporting tax documentation.

If you have questions or concerns about the application process, you may speak with a FACTS Customer Care Representative at 1-866-315-9262, or feel free to call me at 686-0152, ext. 405.
