Chess

We are proud of our many students who play chess at The Independent School. Chess club gives students the opportunity to learn the rudiments of playing chess throughout the year. The club is directed by an USCF certified coach along with current staff and mentors to students ranging from kindergarten through 12th grade. The students have the opportunity to compete in tournaments as part of our school team. The season starts in September and lasts through March.

Since we began playing Chess at the Independent School in 1995, we are proud of our consistent years of individual and team awards. We have had individual state champions along with the TIS team winning the state championship.
