Employer matching and volunteer-grant programs can double the impact of your support for TIS. Thanks to Kaleigh Porchia, TIS parent and volunteer, we’ve gathered resources to help families easily explore these opportunities.
At TIS, our greatest strength is our people - parents, teachers, staff, alumni, and grandparents - who give their time, talent, and treasure to help every child thrive. This season, we’re reflecting on how purposeful giving and community involvement ensure a bright and enduring future for our school.
TIS kicked off our annual giving campaign. The Panther Fund supports academics, arts, athletics, faculty, and the programs that make our school family so special, ensuring every student has the opportunity to thrive.
This Friday, October 10, The Independent School will join schools around the world in recognizing World Mental Health Day, a reminder that caring for our minds is just as important as caring for our bodies. Students, teachers, families, and friends are invited to wear green to show support for mental health awareness.

Schoology and PowerSchool serve different purposes at TIS. Schoology is the Learning Management System for daily classroom updates, assignments, materials, and teacher communication—students must use it, and parents are encouraged to join. PowerSchool is the Student Information System for official records like grades, report cards, attendance, and schedules—parents can use it if they want to track those details.
At TIS, class lists and schedules are more than a list of names and rooms—they’re the starting point of a connected, supported school experience. This post explores how teachers prepare students for a smooth start and how families can support the transition for Middle and Upper School students.
