We’re already looking ahead to next year. What’s the one thing we need to do now?

Complete your 2026–27 enrollment contract in the parent portal by March 2nd. This confirms your child’s place for next year and allows us to plan class sections, staffing, schedules, and student support with confidence so we can start strong in August.

Why do contracts matter so much for planning?

Signed contracts give us the clarity we need to build a great year on purpose, not in a scramble. They allow us to:

  • Finalize class sizes and sections
  • Confirm staffing and course offerings
  • Strengthen transition supports and student services
  • Build schedules, electives, and co-curricular programming thoughtfully

In short, your confirmation helps us build next year well with strong systems.

Where do I find my contract?

Your contract is available here: https://theindependentschool.fsenrollment.com/users/sign_in. If you need help locating it, contact the Admissions Office and we will get you to the right place quickly.

What happens after we sign?

Once your contract is submitted, your child’s place is secured for 2026–27 and our team begins grade-level planning. That includes everything from class sections and staffing to transition support and student experience details.

Can we pay for the Enrollment Fee at a later date?

We understand that some families are still making this year's tuition payments. Please sign your contract and we will arrange for your payment to be made next month.

We have a few questions about next year. Is it okay to talk before we sign?

Absolutely. Wanting clarity is normal, especially during transition years. If you’d like to talk through what next year will look like for your child, we are happy to schedule a quick call.

What can families expect from TIS next year?

A student experience rooted in what TIS does best: students are known, valued, and supported in a community that celebrates individual growth and whole-child development.

You can also feel confident that students are thriving right now. Recent highlights include:

  • Back-to-back Scholars Bowl State Champions
  • Full-ride Rudd Scholarship winner
  • National Merit Finalist
  • Kansas Governor’s Scholar (top 1% statewide)
  • State Awards in Swimming
  • KWCH Top of the Class recognition
  • Strong performances and recognition in arts, athletics, and activities

These outcomes reflect a school that is serious about excellence but also joyful!

What are you focused on improving as we plan for next year?

We are strengthening the student experience by focusing on what the best schools do consistently:

  • Clear, consistent communication and shared language so families know what to expect
  • Strong school-wide systems that reduce overwhelm and help students succeed
  • A retention mindset that prioritizes belonging, connection, and support at key transition points
  • An executive function lens that supports organization, planning, and follow-through as students grow

We’re moving into a new division next year. How do you support transitions?

Transitions are planned intentionally at TIS. If your child is moving into Middle School or Upper School (or stepping into a new grade-level phase), we will help you understand expectations, culture, and support systems so your student feels confident, connected, and prepared.

What if we need more time to sign the contract?

We understand that some families may need additional time due to individual circumstances. If you anticipate needing an extension, please contact the Admissions Office as soon as possible so we can talk through your situation and next steps. While we cannot guarantee extensions in all cases, early communication helps us support your family and plan responsibly for next year.

We’re applying for financial aid. Can we still complete the contract process?

Yes. If you’re waiting on a financial aid decision or have questions about your next step, please contact financialaid@theindependentschool.com so we can guide you based on your situation. We also encourage families to follow the financial aid timeline shared by the school so you can plan with confidence.

Do we need to reapply for financial aid each year?

Yes. Financial aid is reviewed annually and requires reapplication each year.

What if we started the contract but didn’t finish?

You can usually return to the portal and pick up where you left off. If anything looks off or you run into a technical glitch, contact us and we will help quickly.

Who should we contact with questions?

  • Contract access, portal help, enrollment questions: Admissions Office
  • Financial aid, payment plans, billing questions: Business Office
  • Questions about next year’s grade-level experience or a division transition: We are delighted to schedule a conversation with you!

Closing

Thank you for being part of this community. As we plan for 2026–27, we’re focused on a strong student experience, clear communication, and steady forward momentum. Your contract confirmation helps us build next year with the care, intention, and excellence our students deserve.
