Children sit around a wooden table working with white paper plates in a classroom filled with bookshelves and art supplies.

Second grade students have launched an exciting observational drawing unit! Their journey began with blind contour drawings of their hands—with a little help from a paper plate to keep them steady. The magic? By focusing their eyes on the details without worrying about perfection, students train their observation skills in amazing ways! Next, we're building toward an impressive still life drawing project using objects the students themselves bring in. Stay tuned to see the wonderful creations they'll produce!

A collage of photos shows children engaged in various classroom activities at wooden tables, with educational posters and supplies filling the background.
