Lower School

There is no better place to develop a solid foundation for learning than in the Lower School at Independent. In addition to teaching fundamental skills, our teachers encourage students to become independent thinkers, responsible for their work.

    We believe in developing children socially, emotionally, and academically. Classrooms serve as model communities where play and creativity are integral to the educational process, and it is our privilege to have passionate and nurturing teachers who encourage our students to explore and discover the world by igniting each child’s natural curiosity.

    Our faculty is dedicated to high academic standards, and the classroom becomes the hub for building your child’s foundation in reading and writing, math and science, social studies and geography. Students also learn from educational specialists in music, world language, physical education, art, library, and technology. Spanish language is offered beginning in Junior Kindergarten, and students take both Mandarin and Spanish classes in Kindergarten through Fourth Grade.
