TIS Dance Company
Dance is here at The Independent School!
The TIS Dance Company is open to students in Kindergarten through Grade 12, with opportunities for dancers at every experience level, from students trying dance for the first time to experienced performers looking to continue their training.
Students will have opportunities to explore a variety of dance styles, build technique and confidence, perform alongside other TIS dancers, and prepare for our spring Dance Concert.
Dance Company Workshop Week
August 31–September 3
Interested in joining TIS Dance Company? Workshop Week gives students a chance to dance with our instructors, explore different styles, and help determine placement for the year ahead.
There are no cuts. Workshop Week is about finding the right fit for each dancer and helping us build the Dance Company schedule around student interests and availability.
Workshop Schedule
Monday, August 31
3:30–4:10 p.m. | Lower School Tap & Jazz
4:15–5:30 p.m. | Lower, Middle & Upper School Hip-Hop
Tuesday, September 1
3:30–4:15 p.m. | Middle & Upper School Broadway Tap
Wednesday, September 2
4:30–5:30 p.m. | Lower, Middle & Upper School Ballet Barre & Technique

Families should complete our quick Workshop Week form to let us know which sessions their student plans to attend and share general after-school availability as we finalize the regular Dance Company schedule.

Who Can Participate?
Lower School: Kindergarten–Grade 4
Middle & Upper School: Grades 5–12
Dancers of all experience levels are welcome, and there are no cuts from Dance Company.
Students will have opportunities to train in styles including:
- Broadway Tap
- Jazz
- Hip-Hop
- Ballet
- Musical Theatre
- Irish Step
2026–2027 Dance Company
Regular Dance Company rehearsals will take place after school. Final class days and times will be determined after Workshop Week based on student participation and availability.
Tuition: $160 per quarter
Costume/Supply Fee: $55 per student
Additional schedule, attendance and participation information will be shared with Dance Company families as the season gets underway.
Student Choreographers
Students in Grades 6–12 may also audition for the opportunity to serve as Student Choreographers.
Student Choreographer Auditions
Thursday, September 3
3:30–4:30 p.m.
Interested students will prepare a short piece of original choreography using one of the provided song selections. Additional audition information will be shared with students who indicate their interest on the Workshop Week form.
Spring Dance Concert
This year’s Dance Concert will feature A Celebration of ’90s Music.
Tech & Dress Week: April 19–22
Dance Concert: Saturday, April 24 at 7:00 p.m.
