Grandparents

At TIS, we know that family extends far beyond the classroom and that grandparents hold a special place in our students’ hearts and lives. You are part of the foundation that helps our Panthers grow in confidence, curiosity, and compassion. Whether you live nearby or across the country, you are an essential part of our Independent community.

This space was created especially for you, a place to stay connected, celebrate milestones, and share in the everyday joy of learning that happens across our campus. Here, you’ll find news, photos, upcoming event details, and ways to stay engaged in your grandchild’s TIS experience all year long.

We hope this page helps you feel as much a part of our community as the students you love. Your presence, encouragement, and stories enrich our school in countless ways, from cheering at performances and sporting events to inspiring curiosity through the wisdom you’ve gained over the years.

A Message to Our Grandparents and Friends

Dear Grandparents and Friends,

As both a parent and a member of the TIS team, I want to personally thank you for the role you play in your grandchildren’s lives. Your support, pride, and love are felt every time you step onto campus - or even when you send a note of encouragement from afar.

I have two boys here at The Independent School, and I see firsthand how much it means to them when their grandparents are involved. Watching my own parents walk the halls, attend events, and experience the incredible environment of this school brings me such joy. It’s a reminder of how deeply connected our generations are and how this community thrives because of those lasting bonds.

At TIS, we are committed to nurturing not only our students but also the families who surround them. You help create a circle of care and belonging that truly makes this school special. Whether you’re joining us for Grandparents’ Day, following along through photos and updates, or sharing stories about your own school days, you are helping to shape memories that will last a lifetime.

We invite you to explore this page for upcoming events, past highlights, helpful resources, and opportunities to engage, whether in person or from a distance.

With gratitude,
Jessica Stong
