Office of Community Engagement

Welcome to the Office of Community Engagement

For over 40 years, the guiding educational principles of a TIS education have remained steadfast with the help of generous donors and supports who give their time, talent and treasure to ensure we can support each and every one of our students in the best way. The Independent School is committed to individualized learning and inclusiveness, both of which are made possible by supports who share our belief in TIS' vision, mission and values.

Our Mission is to engage parents, students, alumni and staff in ways that value their individual contributions to our school. We welcome and encourage the many ways each member of our community plays a part - through volunteer participation, the contribution of time, individual talents and the giving of financial resources.

The Office of Community Engagement manages charitable giving initiatives, coordinates gifts of time and parent volunteering, oversees alumni activities and communications, and facilitates school-wide special events.

We look forward to partnering with you to support this amazing community of lifelong learners!

  • Endowment

Endowment Funds provide ongoing support for TIS and our programs. As of June 30, 2020, our endowment totals $479,000. Thanks to the generosity of our donors. Income generated by the school’s endowment is reinvested into the endowment to ensure TIS’ continued growth and financial strength.
  • Planned Giving

We can work with you to create a planned gift that fits your financial interests and circumstances.  A complement to The Independent School Fund, this program invites community champions to name TIS as a beneficiary in a number of methods such as wills, life income trusts, individual retirement accounts, retirements plans or life insurance designations.  Planned giving also gives you charitable deductions for the full market value of assets and you pay no capital gains tax on transfers, all while supporting the long-term sustainability of our school.
