Having cultivated their passions in the first two years, students take on larger roles in the community and begin to prepare their applications.
As part of The Independent School’s tailored college process, students participate in individual and family counseling sessions throughout the year. Students meet with college admissions representatives both in-person and virtually, visit campuses, and participate in college fairs. Our Career Cluster Shadow Days are offered early in the spring semester to give juniors the opportunity to connect their learning and interests to applicable careers. Juniors are also encouraged to take on leadership roles and responsibilities. College counseling software is used on a regular basis to explore schools and to build college lists. All 11th grade students take both the ACT and PSAT in October and are encouraged to have all testing completed prior to the start of their senior year.
