Students work with the college counselor to finalize their applications and make a decision based on their individual best fit.
In the summer before the 12th grade year, students and their families meet with the college counselor to solidify a plan of action for the upcoming application process, including finalizing a college list and extensive discussion about the Common Application and relevant other applications. As one of their summer English assignments, students are expected to complete the Common Application Essay before the start of their senior year. Students then receive detailed feedback from their English teacher on their writing and work with the college counselor throughout the revision process.
In the fall, students are provided extensive support on all parts of the application process. Students continue to meet with college admissions representatives both in-person and virtually, visit campuses, and participate in college fairs. Seniors are also offered an optional ACT in October. Further support is given to student athletes, students pursuing the arts, and families interested in merit scholarships or need-based financial aid. We celebrate our seniors, their families, and their college choices on National College Decision Day during an all-school assembly and pep rally.
