Printing Overview

Here at Independent School, we use PaperCut to manage our printing. As a student you can login to the Print Deploy Client or Mobility Print with your TIS account and be able to print to your assignments as needed. Then you can contact a member of staff to help release your print job. Below is how you can install them on BYOD devices. When using TIS computers, Print Deploy Client will already be installed and you will just need to sign in.

Mobility Print

Recommendation for BYOD devices

PaperCut has an extension called Mobility Print that can be used to print from the Chrome browser. While on our campus the extension will be able to talk with our print server and grab the print queues available to you. You will only be able to basic printing (no staples or different paper) but you can print in color or change 2-sided prints. This is a limitation of Chrome/extensions as it just uses a generic printer driver for compatibility across platforms and printers.

To install Mobility Print, open the above link titled "Chrome Web store" while signed into your TIS account.
- Once installed Mobility Print will say you are ready but you're not fully ready yet so close that screen.
- This next part will require you to be on the TIS-Student Wi-Fi
Try to print anything (we won't actually print it).
In the printer selection select "See more...". You should now see a prompt to login with Google.
Click that and allow Mobility Print to login with your Google account.
Now you should see the "TIS-Student" printer should be available when printing through Chrome.

Print Deploy Client

Print Deploy Client is an app that talks with our PaperCut server to get the latest print queues & drivers tied to your user account. This allows you to print from any application on your device. Useful if you are trying to print from Photoshop, Krita or other creative apps we use! Print Deploy Client is automatically installed on all school owned Windows and macOS devices to make things easier for students.

Once its installed or you login for the first time on a school owned device, Print Deploy will ask you to login. We suggest clicking "Sign in with Microsoft" as it will usually be quickest, but both will work. Once logged in, queues will auto install based on your user account's groups. All students should see "TIS-Student" auto installed.

Some printer queues might not auto install so look on the left panel for "Add Printers" and see if the queue is there. If you don't see a queue that you are expecting, please contact us at ittickets@theindependentschool.com and mention what queue you are looking for.

Printing Documents

When using the "TIS-Student" queue your print job is put into a "Find-Me" queue that can be redirected to print to any MFP/printer on campus. This does not include the large copiers in teacher workrooms. To release your print job, students will either need to talk with a staff member or if given a PIN you can login on the printers and release it yourself.
