  • COVID-19 Testing: Sunday, November 28 from 12 - 4 PM

TIS will offer optional (but recommended) COVID-19 testing the Sunday following Thanksgiving in the Lower School parking lot between 12 Noon and 4 PM. Testing will take place curbside and involve a rapid antigen test administered via nose swab. Results will be available same day. Negative results will not be contacted — if you test positive, you will be contacted by email, but otherwise no contact will be made. Students who test positive will be asked to test again using a PCR test, which can also be performed on site.

Appointments are required. Sign up using this link
In order to speed your process, please also print this form and bring the signed copy with you on the test date.
Should a student test positive for COVID-19, you will be contacted as soon as possible, and you will be asked to help us contact trace potential close contacts. More information will follow.

We hope to follow this wide COVID-19 testing with additional testing later in the week, with extended testing opportunities on Thursday, December 2. More information will follow via email and in the Panther Portal. Any student may test on Mondays in their division office, and Tuesday through Thursday between 2-4 PM in Lower School room 112.

  • COVID Testing On Campus

The following provides what you need to know about COVID-19 testing on campus at The Independent School. COVID-19 testing is the best tool we have to keep school open and limit quarantines and closures. Thanks to a grant and support from KDHE, we have a COVID testing coordinator on campus several days each week through the remainder of the school year.

Students, faculty, and staff can test on campus on Mondays in your division office.

COVID testing will be available daily (Sunday, Tuesday through Thursday) after school in the Lower School room 112 (map). An appointment assures a spot to be tested. A new Sign-up Genius link will be posted on the COVID-19 information page weekly.

8 AM - 12 Noon: Testing for persons who are symptomatic or have a person in the same household who has tested positive.

2 PM - 4 PM: “Test to Stay” for unvaccinated students, faculty, and staff who need to test before returning to class the following day.

Please be sure to bring a completed permission form if you have not already completed one, or you may be refused a test!
    • On Sundays, testing will be available from 2 - 4 PM. If unvaccinated and participating in the "Test to Stay" protocol of our COVID Policy, you may also test with your own medical provider any time after 2 PM on Sunday, and provide documentation to your division office. If planning to test on Sunday, please sign up for an appointment (New links posted weekly).
    • Students, faculty, and staff may test in their division office on MONDAYS ONLY - please contact the Division Head or Administrative Assistant to test. For "Test to Stay," a negative test is required after 2 PM on Mondays to attend school on Tuesday.

    • Students may test between 2 PM (if they have a study hall or are otherwise excused before the end of school) and 4 PM Tuesday through Thursday in the Lower School room 112.  Please sign up for an appointment each day. Please contact for more information. Faculty and staff may also test on Tuesday through Thursday.

All students wishing to test MUST submit a permission form or already have a permission form on file. Students who arrive without a signed  permission form or without one already on file will NOT be tested.

Students who require a Test to Stay and do not have a permission form will not be permitted to attend school until they have a verified negative test from another test provider, or until they provide a permission form and undergo a test on campus.
