Jumpstart is a great way to introduce your child to the Junior Kindergarten (JK) teachers and their classmates.  The student will be exposed to a week in the life of JK and have an opportunity to become familiar with their new space.  We will sing songs, read books, play games, create artwork, and much more!  Plan on joining us on August 1-5 from 8 to 10 am.  If you need your student escorted to and from the ELC, just let us know - we are happy to help!  We encourage participation by all students to ensure a positive transition into our Jr. Kindergarten school family.

As your child’s JK teachers, we want the first few days of school to run smoothly, and propose that attending Jumpstart for two hours a day over the span of a week will ease the transition.  Interactions between students during this week will allow us an opportunity to see connections within the school family.  Therefore, it is important for all JK students to be present during Jumpstart. At the conclusion of Jumpstart, the JK teachers will offer classroom placement recommendations to Mrs. Wilson.  Teacher assignments will be finalized once Jumpstart has concluded, and then parents will be notified.

If you have any questions regarding Jumpstart, please don’t hesitate to contact Mrs. Hendricks at sky.hendricks@theindependentschool.com, Mrs. Marklevits at debie.marklevits@theindependentschool.com or Mrs. Billingham at maya.billingham@theindependentschool.com.  We look forward to seeing your child on August 1st!
